Vampire Weekend has a very
distinct sound and instrumentals that are almost instantly recognized which
some people like to call African-tinged pop music. Not having any album releases for 2012, they made
their fans wait for their next album which came just in time for the summer of
2013. Having the sound that they do, I think Modern Vampires of the City is
pretty much the perfect album for the start of summer; it really makes you feel
as if you were a kid listening to a childhood favourite of yours whilst having
the adult responsibilities that we all have.
This album was very well
done and feels like a rare thought-through in today’s indie music genre. The
best songs of this album were the slow and relaxed jams such as ‘step’ that is rather
different than anything we've heard before, however still has that eloquent
voice of Ezra Koenig. These songs are a huge step forward for
Vampire Weekend and Indie music as a whole and we’re all going to be hearing a
lot more in the time coming about Modern Vampires of the City because it’s a
pretty much perfect album for the perfect time.
